Another flower show today. This was a mini show to showcase Irises, along with stalls/stands taken by many of the local special interest organisations and charities. I entered a class entitled 'A Victory Celebration', I exhibited under 3 categories: baking, craft and floral. I decorated vanilla cupcakes to commemorate VE day, I knitted a tea-time tiara / sustainable party hat which I decorated with a crocheted Royal Rosette and I made VE day floral buttonholes using red, white and blue flowers. The inspiration for this particular item was a letter that I had read in Saga magazines VE day special where one of their readers remembered selling buttonholes for 1 shilling and threepence. The cakes were displayed in red/white/blue tulip cases and then on stacked red/white/blue cake boards. Really pleased with my exhibit and I was awarded 1st prize and a blue ribbon for an outstanding exhibit.

The level of detail and skill that goes into the making of these delicious cakes is outstanding.

Thank you for posting your comment, I appreciate it. It takes time to do these things, which people don't always understand, but it's important to get it right especially for a subject 'VE Day' as important as this.
