My first Charity Bake of the year, mini cupcakes for the RBL Poppy Sellers tea which was held in Banstead Community Centre on Sunday afternoon. I made 5 dozen mini vanilla cupcakes which were filled with a raspberry conserve centre, topped with a vanilla buttercream rosette and finished off with red sugarpaste poppies (made using a special cutter bought from the RBL) and green leaves. The poppy is stamped out of red sugarpaste and the black detail is painted in with an edible pen. The little cakes were displayed in mini tulip cases. They looked beautiful and tasted good too.

The Reigate and Banstead branch of RBL had achieved a fantastic result by raising over £47,000 from all the poppies they sold and donations made. 2024 is the 100 yr anniversary for The Reigate and Banstead branch of RBL so I expect more poppy baking to be involved.
