Christmas cake finished - Tick - Tuesday 19th December 2023

Having baked my Christmas cake in October it has been wrapped and occasionally fed with a drop more brandy so now the time has come to decorate the cake. I covered it with a layer of marzipan, then a layer of fondant icing and finished the cake with a Patchwork cutter decoration from the bells and bows collection. I've been watching the demo video for this design by Marion Frost to get everything just right, I added a pale blue circle of sugar paste to the top of the cake and then stuck the decorations in place using boiled water. I completed the design with some royal icing, glitter flake sprinkles and small snow flake decorations. Really pleased with the finished result, I'm hoping that the cake will taste as good as it looks.
